The Ultimate Girls' Weekend in San Diego
San Diego was the perfect choice for our girls’ getaway—amazing food, great drinks, and plenty to do, even when the weather wasn’t ideal. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or just a reason to bar-hop your way through the city, this itinerary has you covered. Here’s how we spent our perfect weekend in SD (with a few must-visit spots we’ll be adding next time)!
Day 1: Touchdown and Tacos
We kicked off our trip with a little shopping and tacos in Old Town—a must for anyone visiting San Diego. The area is packed with history, colorful shops, and (most importantly) delicious Mexican food. After stuffing ourselves with tacos, we headed to Seaport Village for some waterfront views, coffee, and a quick stop at Malibu Farm—because you can’t go wrong with an oceanfront drink in hand.
Dinner that night was at Elvira, a cozy Italian spot where the pasta and wine flowed freely. Afterward, we went all in on rooftop bar hopping—because when in San Diego, you drink with a view!

Day 2: Brunch, Beach, and Bar Crawls
We tried to get brunch at Morning Glory, but (rookie mistake) we didn’t make a reservation, and they were totally booked out. If you plan ahead, it’s supposed to be amazing. Instead, we grabbed pizza in Little Italy, which was still a win.
With full stomachs, we headed to Belmont Park—a nostalgic beachside amusement park with cute shops, food stands, and mini golf. Tiki Town Adventure Mini Golf was an absolute highlight—you can bring drinks on the course, and since most of it is covered, it’s the perfect rainy-day activity.
That evening, we hit up Liberty Station for some food hall goodness (sushi, açaí bowls, Thai—you name it, they have it), a little shopping, and, of course, a bar crawl. Some favorites:
- Mess Hall – Laid-back vibes and great drinks.
- Moniker – Best old fashioned of the trip.
- Desi’s – Your classic dive bar experience.
- Dirty Bird’s – A fun, casual spot to wrap up the night.

Day 3: Exploring and Cocktails
We started strong with brunch at Breakfast Republic—their eggs benedict? Chef’s kiss. Then, we explored University Heights, popping into coffee shops and boutiques before bar hopping our way through the area.
Dinner was at Seneca, and WOW—the food, the cocktails, the vibes. It’s definitely a must-do spot for a special night out.
After dinner, we went full speakeasy mode at Noble Experiment. The bartenders literally come to your table, ask what flavors you love, and then craft a custom cocktail just for you. It felt super exclusive and was hands-down one of our favorite stops.
Day 4: Brunch and La Jolla Views
Our last morning called for Hash House a Go Go, where the portion sizes are comically huge. If you’re starving, this is the place for you.
Before heading out, we made one last stop in La Jolla to see the sea lions because no trip to San Diego is complete without watching those little guys lounge and bark at each other on the rocks.
For our final night, we took on Gaslamp Quarter—San Diego’s nightlife hub. We hopped between lively bars, speakeasies, and rooftop spots, soaking in the electric energy of the district. Whether you’re looking for craft cocktails, dance floors, or a rooftop to sip on a spritz under the stars, Gaslamp has it all. It was the perfect way to wrap up our trip!

What We Missed, But You Shouldn't!
Even though we packed our weekend, there were still a few things we couldn’t fit in:
- San Diego Zoo – I’ve been before, and it’s 100% worth it, even with the steep price tag. If you haven’t been, add it to your list!
- More rooftop bars – Because you can never have too many skyline views.
